A young deer found itself trapped in the steep-walled bed of Silver Creek in Oneonta Wednesday, until local police, firemen and conservation officials rescued it, but not until after a chase of several blocks. The deer was seen downstream from below a dam near Clinton and Spruce streets.
A city fireman was roped into the creek bed to help capture the animal in a transport box.
A patrolman and fireman, successful in getting the deer into the box, hoisted it to waiting arms and its eventual release.
