Oneonta State College Professor Charles Burnsworth will present his multi-media program on "The Age of Rock at 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 12, in lecture hall 3 of the college's Instructional Resource Center.
The free program, which includes musical selections, photographs and celebrity interviews traces the emergency and development of rock music from Joe Turner's "Shake, Rattle & Roll" and Bill Haley's "Rock Around the Clock" to the Beatles, the Rolling Stones and new wave.
The presentation ties the history of rock music with the sociological and historical events of the past three decades including the invention of electric instruments, the Supreme Court decision on the desegregation of public schools, the black power movement of the 60s, the drug culture of San Francisco, the Vietnam War, rock festivals and the latest in experimental music.
There will be an informal question and answer period after the presentation. The program is being sponsored by the SUCO Music Department.

UNADILLA _ Penns Willow Chapter of the Unadilla Yorkers Club provided the program for the Unadilla Rotary Club on Wednesday, Dec. 3, at the Unadilla Central School. Following introductory remarks by Larry Armour, president, Susan Foote read "Our Gift From Mexico _ The Poinsettia." A short play entitled, "Merry Christmas USA" was presented with the following cast of characters: Sandra Fargo, Jeff VanCott, Edward Swart, Sherrie DuMond, John Berry, Arthur Dwight, Theodore Ingalls, and carolers, Susan Chamberlin, Anita Wetherbee, Cindy Newman and Jeff Bouvier.
The chapter will provide a tree and gifts for each person at the Fair Haven Rest Home, with David Knight, Larry Armour and Marilyn Kobylack as the committee in charge.
