WELLS BRIDGE — The Solar Bullet will hit the road today on its third American Tour de Sol solar/electric vehicle race.
Six students and two teachers from Unatego High School are participating and they leave today for New York City. The Solar Bullet will be displayed Sunday at the World Trade Center. The race leaves Manhattan via the Holland River Tunnel Monday and ends in Philadelphia Saturday.
“We’re ready,” said Clark Greene, technology teacher. The team includes students Jennifer Stachura, Robert Land and Anne Svatek, who will be driving, and Barry Enck, Julie Marlette and Nate Derr and technology teachers Greene and Paul Agoglia.
During the past two weeks, the drivers have been breaking in the Bullet’s battery bank after winter storage. Locally, they have been driving a circuit that includes Unadilla, Wells Bridge and Otego.

The voice was almost a mumble but clearly conspiratorial in tone.
The caller said, “I don’t want to get involved but I think you ought to know some kids were arrested at Oneonta High for smoking marijuana. It happened Friday.” Then he hung up.
Calls of this type have become familiar to Star staff members in the past 72 hours or so. Others accuse The Star and the police for “covering up” the “big dope raids at OHS because scions of prominent families are involved.”
Some of the callers give names of students supposedly involved and demand to know why the story isn’t being written.
The answer to that last demand is simple; the story hasn’t been written because it hasn’t happened. At least, not to our knowledge.
