The Upper Susquehanna chapter of Trout Unlimited will gather on Monday, July 13, for a picnic meeting at Hanrahan's Pond pavilion in lieu of a regular meeting. Officers will bring burgers; members may bring beverages.

To reach the pond, take state Route 23 to West Laurens and turn west after the firehouse. Take a left at the Y in the road to Crawford Road and continue half a mile down the road. The pond will be on the left. The entrance is at the west end of the pond. Members may bring children for fishing. The event will continue rain or shine.

Members of the chapter participated in the Father's Day fishing derby sponsored by the Otsego County Federation of Sportsmen's Clubs in Neahwa Park. Several fishing rod and reel sets were given to children who attended the event.

The chapter is seeking donations of secondhand spinning rods and reels for future giveaways. Organizers said simple closed-bail reels, similar to Zebco, are preferred. Rod tips, rod guides and ferrules are also being sought. Donations can be dropped off to Bob Turrell at the Marketplace at 213 Chestnut St. in Oneonta, or call Joe DeSantis at 263-5188 for more information.

Representatives of the chapter will be at the Otsego County Fair in the Burchand building in the Conservation Compound. Members will host exhibits of live fish and fly-

tying demonstrations. Photos of activities will be on display, and membership applications will be available.

The chapter will also be represented at the Otsego Lake Appreciation Day at Glimmerglass State Park on July 11. Demonstrations of fly-casting and fly-tying are planned.

The chapter is seeking flea-market vendors and presenters for the second annual Conservation Day, planned for Sept. 19 at Fortin Park in Oneonta.
