Rubera’s Restaurant of Otego expanded its dining room last month to include an adjoining taproom and bar area, according to the owners.
The bar is the first to open in Otego, which was formerly a dry town, according to Rosie Rubera, who owns the restaurant with her husband, Franco.
The room contains a dozen barstools, Rosie said, but more can be added as needed, and window seating is also available.
The restaurant hosted two grand openings last month because the new space was so popular, Rubera said.
“It was such a huge turnout the first time, we did it again,” she said.
Rubera’s will celebrate its fourth anniversary in business next month, she said. The restaurant began with a simple menu of pizza, salad and garlic knots and has since expanded to a full dinner menu.
Rubera’s is open 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Delaware County reports business funding
The Delaware County Department of Economic Development provided 26 businesses with $1.58 million of financial assistance, according to a media release.
The funds were used to stimulate $5.48 million of new private sector investment and will result in the creation of 96 full-time jobs within the county,the release said.
“Our ultimate goal here is to create new job opportunities for people in Delaware County, while supporting the establishment and expansion of private business,” said Mike Triolo, Stamford town supervisor and chair of the county board's Economic Development Committee. “We believe we have positively affected new business investment so far this year.”
Gravity Ciders, Catskill Food Company, Scotch Valley Ranch Hemp, Kimchee Harvest, Two Stones Farm, Chef Deanna, Skytop Springs Fish, Rock Valley Spirits, First Light Farm & Creamery and Una-Lam were among the agriculture-related businesses to receive loans or grants from the department, according to the release.
The majority of the DCED grant and loan programs are funded through state and federal sources, except for the tourism grants, which are paid for by Delaware County’s occupancy tax, introduced three years ago.
DCED awarded $104,831 to about 60 recipients in this year’s annual round of funding for projects including tourism promotion, community celebrations, arts and culture and capital improvements, according to the release.

Delaware chamber seeks program participants
The Delaware County Chamber of Commerce is seeking applicants for its 2019 Leadership Delaware class.
Leadership Delaware, an initiative of the chamber, aims to "provide a sustainable source of diverse leaders who are prepared and committed to being catalysts of positive change for the quality of life in Delaware County and the Catskill Mountain region," according to a media release.
The program has expanded to include practical leadership skills and community development techniques, which are intended to strengthen the program, create meaningful connections, provoke thoughtful discussions and better prepare graduates to assume leadership roles within their communities, according to the release.
Prospective applicants are invited to attend one of the following information sessions to meet with program leaders and alumni:

Commerce Chenango to offer cybersecurity workshop
Commerce Chenango announced the next installment of its 2019 Business & Professional Development Series: Cybersecurity — How to Prevent and Protect.
The cybersecurity panel discussion will be held in the community room at Commerce Chenango in Norwich on Wednesday, Aug. 14, beginning with registration at 8 a.m. and program to follow at 8:30.
Local professionals including Terra Carnrike-Granata, SVP director of information security; Mark Sherwood, cybersecurity supervisor at NYCM; Becky Wheeler, IT compliance supervisor at NYCM; Nate Foote of NBT Insurance Agency; and Arron Monroe, director of infrastructure and network services at Preferred Mutual Insurance Company will discuss understanding cybersecurity risks, common threats and how to avoid them, educating employees, safe online practices and more.

Raymond earns 2019 SDCE award
The Raymond Corporation announced last week it earned the 2019 Supply and Demand Chain Executive’s SDCE 100 Top Supply Chain Transformations award.
The SDCE 100 annual list spotlights successful and innovative transformation projects that deliver bottom-line value to small, medium and large enterprises across the range of supply chain functions, according to a media release.
Raymond was recognized for its partnership with Ginsberg’s Foods, the largest independently owned and operated food service provider in New York’s Hudson Valley, according to the release. Ginsberg’s used the Raymond Virtual Reality Simulator to educate new forklift operators on best practices, allowing instructors to give real-time feedback and build upon important skills.
The Raymond Virtual Reality Simulator uses an existing Raymond forklift by plugging the virtual reality system into the company’s patent-pending simulation port. After simulation use, the forklift can be introduced back into the warehouse for material handling use. With different modules for a variety of forklifts, the virtual reality lessons increase in complexity to build upon skills learned, giving operators a chance to learn best practices and increase confidence before reaching the warehouse floor, according to the release.
