Springbrook will host a free seminar for local business owners to learn about Autism Spectrum Disorder.
“Autism in the Workplace” will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Friday, Oct. 11, at Springbrook's Oneonta Community Campus at 5588 State Highway 7 in Oneonta.
Janine Kruiswijk, executive director of the Autism Society of the Greater Capital Region, will cover what the Autism Spectrum is, how it may present in the workplace, onboarding and retention best practices, a review of possible accommodations and ways to address the stigma and false assumptions surrounding autism.

Afton chamber seeks vendors
The Greater Afton Area Chamber of Commerce is seeking vendors for its annual Small Business Saturday event from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 30.
Current locations available for the Main Street event include the VFW and the Susquehanna Room, and outdoor space will be available depending on weather.
Chamber members may register or list their businesses for free. A $20 fee will be charged to participating non-chamber members.
Main Street businesses that are not current chamber members may offer a $12 donation to be included in marketing.

Anti-harassment training is offered
The Otsego County Chamber of Commerce will host a New York state-mandated training session on anti-harassment policies and sexual harassment at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2019 at Northern Eagle Beverages in Oneonta.
New York requires all employers to adopt a sexual harassment prevention policy and train all employees on sexual harassment prevention, according to a media release. Initial trainings must be completed by Oct. 9 and held annually thereafter.
Pinnacle Human Resources LLC will host an interactive training session for business managers and owners, which will outline the minimum legal requirements and best practices in establishing a company policy, according to the release.

Hamden business to offer U-Haul
The Hamden Filling Station on state Route 10 in Hamden has signed on to serve Delaware County as a U-Haul neighborhood dealer, according to a media release.
The filling station will offer U-Haul trucks, trailers, towing equipment, moving supplies and in-store pick-up for boxes.
Each U-Haul truck placed in a community helps keep 19 personally owned large-capacity vehicles, pickups, SUVs and vans off community roads, creating less traffic congestion and pollution and burning less fuel, according to the release.
