Exhibit opening receptionpostponed to Nov. 14
ONEONTA —“The Artist’s Card - The Season of Greeting- Selections from the James Mullen Collection,” opening reception has been postponed to Thursday, Nov. 14.
The opening reception, which will include a talk by Mullen at 6 p.m., will be held at SUNY Oneonta’s Martin-Mullen Art Gallery. The exhibit will run until Dec. 17.
The show includes about 70 works and studies by Mullen centered on the theme of seasonal holiday greeting cards. It also includes abut 200 examples of artist’s cards by Mullen’s students and colleagues. Mullen taught courses in drawing, design, printmaking and art history/appreciation at SUNY Oneonta for several decades. He also served for more than 25 years as director of the Fine Arts Gallery and Dean of Humanities and Fine Arts. The Martin-Mullen Art Gallery is named after Mullen and another SUNY Oneonta art professor, Minnie Martin.
The exhibit will be on view for free to the public. The gallery is open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday when the college is in session and during special events. For more information, call 607-436-2445.
‘Madama Butterfly’ to be shown Saturday
ONEONTA — “Madama Butterfly” will be streamed live at the Foothills Performing Arts & Civic Center.
The live cinema transmission is part of the Met’s award winning “Live in HD” series, bringing opera to more than 2,200 theaters in more than 70 countries worldwide.
The performance will begin at 12:55 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, in the Upstairs Theater. Doors will open one hour before the performance. Lunch will be available for purchase.
