Author to speak about local theater
SIDNEY — Barbara Gregson, an author, theater artist and director, will speak from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 16, at the Sidney Memorial Public Library about her book, “Theater Artists Play.”
Books will be available for purchase and Gregson will sign books after her talk.

LEAF contests open for submissions
ONEONTA — The LEAF Council on Alcoholism and Addictions annual art and poetry contests are open for submissions. The theme this year is, “I Can See Clearly Now.” According to a media release, the theme was selected so artists could detail, “the beauty we can experience free from the cloud of addiction.”
The deadline for submissions is Friday, April 10. Winners will be announced Friday, April 24, during the group’s annual gala, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the CANO Gallery at 11 Ford Ave. in Oneonta. There will also a show at the Fenimore Art Museum, from April 30 through June 19. The show will also have an opening reception, from 5:30 to 7 p.m., at the Fenimore, which is at 5798 State Route 80 in the town of Otsego.

Pop Up Shop to feature yarn
ONEONTA — Jeanetta Osterhoudt of Sybil’s Yarn Shop in Milford will be the featured artist at The Autumn Cafe’s weekly Local Artist Pop Up Shop.
According to a media release, Osterhoudt is continuing the business her mother started 43 years ago. A knitter for 30 years, she will show her creations as well as some hand-knit items made by several of her friends.
