A.O. Fox Hospital welcomed an exhibit at FoxCare Center on June 4, presented by Mountainview Wellness Center, which is run by Rehabilitation Support Services.

Pieces on display include paintings, sculptures, photos and framed written works. All art has been created by clients at Mountainview Wellness Center on their journeys to healing. The show will be in the main concourse at FoxCare Center through June 30.

Mountainview’s exhibit is part of Fox Hospital’s ongoing effort to incorporate artwork in its facilities for patients and visitors to enjoy while supporting local artists, according to a media release.

“Designed to reduce stress and promote healing among patients and their families, art in health care settings is clinically proven to reduce feelings of pain and anxiety, decrease the length of hospital stays, lessen depression, promote compassion and calmness, and facilitate empathy,” the release said.

Rehabilitation Support Services was founded in 1979 and provides community-based mental health and substance abuse recovery services in 13 counties in upstate New York, including Mountainview Wellness Center on River Street in Oneonta.

Artwork will be available for purchase.
