The Bill Charlap Trio, a jazz ensembles, will perform at the Otesaga Resort Hotel ballroom at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 4. The performance will be the first in the Cooperstown Summer Music Festival’s 2019 mainstage lineup.
Led by jazz pianist Bill Charlap, with Peter Washington on bass and Kenny Washington on drums, the Grammy-nominated trio has played together for more than two decades and is known for its “infectious chemistry and its charismatic live performances at top jazz clubs such as Birdland, the Village Vanguard, and Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola,” presenters said in a media release.
Charlap has worked with such jazz artists as Gerry Mulligan, Phil Woods, Tony Bennett and Wynton Marsalis, developing a reputation as both a sensitive accompanist and a singular performer in his own right, the release said.
“We are thrilled to be able to have the Bill Charlap Trio at CSMF this year, continuing our tradition of bringing the finest jazz ensembles to the festival,” Linda Chesis, festival founder and artistic director, said in the release.
