The West Kortright Centre will present a CD release party for Matt Munisteri's new album, "Still Running 'Round in the Wilderness: Matt Munisteri Plays the Lost Music of Willard Robinson, Vol. 1."
The event will be at 8 p.m. Saturday at the venue, 49 W. Kortright Church Road in East Meredith.
A members' appreciation reception will precede the concert at 7 p.m. that day.
According to a media release, Munisteri spent 11 years hunting down, transcribing, performing and now recording the Robinson's music.
He will play Robinson tunes from the dawn of 20th American popular song, along with some of his own selections, during the night. Joining him will be Matt Ray on piano, Scott Robinson on trumpet and Ben Perowsky on drums.
Willard Robinson was born in Missouri in 1894. He worked as a pianist and arranger, employing a complex harmonic and melodic language that, while referencing the new jazz, classical, ragtime, blues, and even old-time country music, emerged as a completely original American sound, the release said.
Munisteri has performed with Andy Stein, the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra, Vince Giordano's Nighthawks, Jenny Scheinman and Bucky Pizzarelli. He contributed arrangements, guitar, and banjo to Loudon Wainwright's 2010 Grammy-winning album, "High Wide and Handsome -- The Charlie Poole Project."
Tickets are $22, $18 for West Kortright Centre members and $11 for those under 19 years old.
