Three local community leaders will go head-to-head, or, rather, baton-to-baton, as they duke it out during Catskill Symphony Orchestra’s upcoming Guest Conductor Competition. This is the culminating event of CSO’s Cabaret, the organization’s largest annual concert and fundraiser, which will be held at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 21, in SUNY Oneonta’s Alumni Field House.

This year, Dr. Anya Bitterman, an ophthalmologist from Oneonta Eye and Laser Center; Rachel Lutz Jessup, Bank of Cooperstown’s Oneonta branch manager; and Barbara Roberts, co-owner of at Keller Williams Upstate New York Properties, will commandeer the podium from CSO’s musical director Maestro Charles Schneider. Radio host “Big Chuck” will be master of ceremonies.

Each woman will compete to raise the largest amount of donations to CSO to win the right to conduct the March 21 concert. Votes will be calculated throughout the Cabaret; donations can be made online at catskillsymphony.net

The Cabaret concert will begin with internationally acclaimed jazz artist Hilary Kole performing a Judy Garland program alongside CSO, as well as a salute to Richard Rogers.

Cabaret tickets are $40 per individual, or $320 for a table of eight. Thanks to an anonymous donation, free tickets are available for students and up to two adult chaperones per student order. This offer is also valid for unaccompanied high school and college students.

Tickets and information may be found online atcatskillsymphony.net, via email at cso@oneonta.edu, or by calling 436-2670. CSO is on Facebook atfacebook.com/catskillsymphonyorchestra.
