Costume designer to speak at 'All is Lost' screening

Emmy Award winning costume director Van Ramsey, will be the guest speaker for the Film Society of Cooperstown’s Wednesday, Feb. 12,* screening of the 2013 Robert Redford film, “All is Lost.” 

Directed by J.C. Chandor, the movie is “a dramatic adventure film about never giving up,” according to the media release. “It stars Robert Redford — the only cast member and with only a few spoken words — as a man lost at sea. 

“All Is Lost” was nominated for an Oscar for Best Sound Editing and won the Golden Globe Award for Best Original Score.

Ramsey, who won Emmys for Outstanding Achievement in Costume Design in a Miniseries or Special for “Lonesome Dove” in 1989 and “Oldest Living Confederate Widow Tells All” in 1994, will speak about “All is Lost” and answer questions from a Film Society moderator and audience members. 

Supported by the Friends of the Village Library, the Film Society of Cooperstown schedule was curated by Bill Francis, researcher and writer at the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum, and Jeff Katz, former mayor of Cooperstown and author.

All movies will be shown in the Ballroom at Village Hall at 22 Main St., and the programs begin at 7 p.m. Candy will be provided by Tin Bin Alley. Donations will be accepted.
