Fiddler and folk singer Emerald Rae will make her 6 On The Square debut at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 11.
Hailing from the fishing community of Gloucester, Massachusetts, Rae is both a small-town girl steeped in cherished folk traditions and a world-class artist breaking new ground with inventive fiddle effects.
According to a media release: “A degree in film scoring from the Berklee College of Music in Boston gave her the freedom to cast a wide creative net, while her grit and intensity was earned during her 20-year career as a fiddler and dancer.”
Rae released “If Only I Could Fly” in 2013 featuring her on fiddle, vocals, guitar and the crwth (an ancient Welsh fiddle pronounced “krooth”).
The release was well received and Rae was chosen as a Falcon Ridge Folk Festival Emerging Artist.
