Group exhibit to open at CANO

ContributedPaper cuttings by Shannon Delany are among the works to be shown at CANO starting Friday.

The Community Arts Network of Oneonta will celebrate the opening of a group exhibit with a reception from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday. The exhibit features works by Shannon Delany, Sandra Finkenberg and June Tyler. It will be on display through Aug. 23.

Finkenberg's exhibit of plein air paintings, titled "August to August," represents the artist's second year of painting outdoors.  "From long walks through fields and forests with sketches drawn in gouache along the way, she would later reference these in her work," a media release said.

Delany has created a selection of messenschnitte (papercuttings) inspired by the 150th anniversary of the publication of "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland."

Tyler's exhibit of prints and drawings are inspired by natural forms and forces, according to the release. "From natural movement to eroded human constructions, Tyler’s work focuses on relationships built by forms and the spaces around them."

The gallery is open from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays; 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays; and noon to 3 p.m. Sundays in the Wilber Mansion on Ford Avenue in Oneonta. For information, call 432-2070.
