Music on the Delaware will bring Molasses Creek back to the Walton Theatre at 7:30 p.m. Saturday. It will be the acoustic band’s fourth appearance in Walton. A pre-concert open jam session will be held at 6:30 on the second floor of the theatre.
Molasses Creek hails from Ocracoke Island off the coast of North Carolina. The band has won accolades around the United States and abroad for their harmonies and song-writing. Their concerts run the gamut of traditional to contemporary acoustic music, along with ballads, instrumentals and vaudevillian pieces. The band has recorded 13 albums over the past 20 years; in April 2012, its release, “An Island Out of Time,” reached No. 4 on the National Folk Radio DJ charts.
Band members are include Gary Mitchell on guitar and vocals, Dave Tweedie on fiddle and vocals, Marcy Brenner on mandolin, bass and vocals, Lou Castro on dobro, bass and vocals, and Gerald Hampton on mandolin and bass.
Remaining concerts in the Music on the Delaware 2013-14 season are Brother Sun on Nov. 16, Amy Gallatin and Stillwaters on Feb. 8, and Cherish the Ladies on April 5.
