The Oneonta Theatre will host a varied array of events at 47 Chestnut St. in the next week.
Starting Saturday in the Balcony Ballroom, and running Sept. 17, 24 and Oct. 8, the theater will present the Central New York Battle of the Bands.
A panel of judges will select the 12 most promising bands to compete. The grand prize winner will receive $500 and will open for Blue Oyster Cult on Oct. 21. The competition is free to view.
This will be followed by Inner Visions at 8 p.m. Monday. The group, from St. John in the U.S. Virgin Islands, has more than 25 years of experience in reggae music.
Core members are Phillip "Grasshopper" Pickering, Alvin "Jupiter" Pickering, Akiba "Mr. Snooze" Pickering and Aswad "Hollywood" Pickering.
Tickets are $10.
Also, 8 p.m. Tuesday, Julia Yarinsky will host an open mic in the Balcony Ballroom.
Presenters welcome performers, songwriters and poets of all levels to present their talent. Signups are at 7:30 p.m., with 10 available slots. Each act will be able to perform twice.
Admission for viewing is $5 for under 21 and $3 for 21 and over. Performers enter free.

Finally, at 9 p.m. Friday, the venue will present Seth Glier in the ballroom.
A media release said the performer "grabs your attention will fearless vocal delivery, musical exuberance and seasoned songwriting beyond his years."
USA Today said Glier is "an exquisite tenor" who "echoes Bruce Springsteen and Billy Joel."
In 2010, Glier opened for Edwin McCain and the Verve Pipe, appeared with James Taylor and performed on the main stage at Falcon Ridge.
The singer also appeared at the Oneonta Theatre earlier this year as the opening act for Ani DiFranco.
His latest album is "The Next Right Thing," which was released in 2010.
