The seventh annual “Summer Shortcuts VII” will open Thursday at The Open Eye Theater in Margaretville, for two weekends, beginning Thursday and ending Sept. 3.
Each spring, The Open Eye Theater invites playwrights nationwide to submit family-friendly plays for consideration. This year, 224 scripts were sent in from all over the United States and beyond.
Amie Brockway, producing artistic director said, “The ten-minute play gives us an opportunity to get acquainted with voices of many playwrights from our area and all across the country, and to share their creative work with Open Eye audiences.”
The plays for Summer Shortcuts VII are: Lisa Bruna’s “Faking It,” Lawrence DuKore’s “The Day That Brando Died,” Vincent Terell Durham’s “Trash Day,” Thomas Heine’s “Mother and Child Times Two” and “The Old Man and the Mirror,” Jack J. Kelly’s “Innings and Outings,” Gail Lennstrom’s “Bun N’ Cone Reunion” and Scott Mullen’s “Ride.”
The Open Eye Theater is at 960 Main Street in Margaretville.
