Truck driver accused of falsifying robbery
A Gloversville truck driver who reported he was robbed on the side of Interstate 88 last month was arrested for allegedly making up the story.
Raymond A. Young Sr., 57, was charged Monday with third-degree falsely reporting an incident and making a punishable false written statement.
Young called 911 on Feb. 12 to report he had stopped in the town of Unadilla along I-88 to help two men with a disabled vehicle but was robbed, according to state police at Sidney.
Young told investigators the men took cash, a cell phone and a company gas card, troopers said.
He was released to appear Monday in Unadilla Town Court.
