Otsego Northern Catskills BOCES was awarded $499,926 from the United States Department of Agriculture for Rural Development, according to a media release.

The money will be used for distance learning programs and telemedicine offerings.

The primary focus of this grant is to combat these challenges by providing classes and resources otherwise not widely available in the region, in particular, STEM-related — Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics — courses and preventative education on opioid abuse.

This grant will aid ten schools, the release stated, including Campbell-Savona Junior/Senior High School, Charlotte Valley Central School District, Laurens Central School District, Livingston Manor Central School District, Milford Central School District, Morris Central School District, ONC BOCES’ Otsego Area Occupational Center, Prattsburgh Central School District, Unadilla Valley Central School District and Windham-Ashland-Jewett Central School District.
