Catskill Area Hospice and Palliative Care announced Tuesday, Oct. 8, that its name has been changed to Helios Care.
The new name and logo were revealed at an event at the Foothills Performing Arts and Civic Center in Oneonta, according to a media release.
The change was made “in order to increase awareness” of the agency’s services, the release said.
CAHPC was founded 35 years ago. Dan Ayres, president and CEO of Helios Care, said in the release, “Over that time we have created a tremendous bond with our communities. They know us for being able to provide a wonderful service that so many families need and value during a very difficult time.”
The new name will also help the organization expand its reach, officials said.
“Helios Care does not limit us to a specific geographic area and will allow us to provide care to areas where service is needed,” Connie Jastremski, chair of the board of Helios Care, said.
“Our mission doesn’t change. We’re making life easier for patients and families facing serious illness and end of life, by providing choice, dignity, and compassionate care,” Ayres said.
