Although Countryside Care Center nursing home in Delhi has filed a closure plan, county officials are hopeful it will remain open.

The 199-bed facility was cited in August by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services for “deficiencies.” It was given until Sept. 13 to correct the problems cited.

Instead the facility filed the closure plan with the state Department of Health. An official with the facility could not be reached for comment.

The county sold the nursing home to Leatherstocking Healthcare LLC in 2006.

County Supervisor James Eisel said there are several buyers looking at the operation. “We hope they can come to some agreement.” There is definitely a demand for its services, he said. “We don’t want to see it close.”
