Delaware Opportunities will host its 11th annual children’s festival Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at its headquarters in Hamden.

The free event is geared toward families with young, school-aged children but open to all ages, and will feature a variety of kids’ games and activities and an appearance by Animal Adventure Park, according to Shelly Bartow, executive director.

“The idea is to get children moving and active and learning,” she said.

Bartow said the festival serves as a means to acquaint the community with the services provided by Delaware Opportunities, including child care resources and referrals, community food and nutrition, employment, independent living skills, parent education, housing assistance, transportation and weatherization.

The organization also administers state and federal programs such as WIC, Safe Against Violence, the Home Energy Assistance Program and Head Start.

Program staff will perform car seat safety checks on site and refreshments will be served.
