Oneonta's Market Street will be closed Friday afternoon and electric power will be disrupted in part of the city.
According to information from the city, New York State Electric & Gas Corporation will perform emergency transformer repairs on Market Street starting at about 2 p.m. It is estimated the repairs could take up to three hours.
NYSEG employees will shut off power to the loop serviced by the affected transformer. The power outage is expected to impact properties on the south side of Main Street (the even numbers) between Grand Street and the Otsego County Office Building and the entirety of South Main Street. City Hall will close at 2 p.m.
Officials said the lack of power will impact telephone service to the Oneonta Public Safety Building. In case of emergency, call 911. Non-emergency calls can be made to 607-343-3779.
