A flash flood watch and flood advisory are in effect for the region, according to the National Weather Service in Binghamton.
The flash flood watch covers Delaware and Otsego counties and specifically mentions Oneonta, Cooperstown, Walton and Delhi. In effect until 8 p.m. today, it warns that heavy rainfall and melting snow could cause rapid flooding of small creeks and streams.
The small stream flood advisory was issued for Delaware and Sullivan counties. In effect from noon to 4 p.m. today, it warns of general flood danger near streams and in low-lying areas, including Walton and Delhi.
