A former Hartwick College professor died Wednesday while hiking in New Hampshire.
Terrance Fitz-Henry, 71, was hiking alone on Franconia Notch when he succumbed to an unknown illness, according to a media release from the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department.
A hiker discovered Fitz-Henry’s body about 1 ½ miles up the Old Bridal Path from the trail head parking lot. He was on his way back down the trail when he died, the officials said.
Fish and Game conservation officers and search-and-rescue volunteers retrieved his body.
Fitz-Henry was a retired English and theater arts professor.
