A three-car motor vehicle accident Wednesday morning in the town of Oxford left one person dead and another injured, according to the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office.

Kathryn Frear of Greene was pronounced dead at the scene on state Route 12 when deputies responded shortly after 7 a.m., according to a media release.

Frear was driving south behind a tractor trailer operated by Jereme Lehmer of Oxford when her car, a 2012 Ford Fiesta, was struck from behind and forced into the rear of the tractor trailer by a box truck driven by Kenneth Price of Buffalo, who failed to stop for the slowing vehicles as they approached a turn, according to the release.

Lehmer was uninjured and Price was transported to Chenango Memorial Hospital for treatment of minor injuries, according to the release.

Personnel from the New York State Department of Transportation, Greene emergency medical services and fire departments from Norwich, Oxford and Brisben also responded to the scene.

The accident remains under investigation by the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office.
