Susan O’Handley of Hartwick has been selected to the position of executive director of the Cooperstown Chamber of Commerce, it was announced Thursday.

In a media release, Jane Duel, board treasurer and chairwoman of the search committee, said, "Susan is extremely qualified to lead the 600-member organization and guide day-to-day operations as well as long-term strategic planning. We’re very pleased she has accepted the position and look forward to utilizing her vast administrative experiences both in the business and not-for-profit arenas."

The Board of Directors of the organization confirmed their unanimous support at a reception and special meeting Thursday.

O'Handley and her husband, Jeff, own and operate the Wildlife Learning Company based in Hartwick, and she has a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from SUNY Geneseo.

John Bullis was the chamber's previous director.
