A 911 call originating from State Highway 28 Thursday morning led officers to a 22-year-old man who was holding a victim captive in his vehicle near Bovina, according to a recent release.
An investigation by Delaware County Deputies and the Delhi Village Police Department revealed that James D. Garcia, of Monroe, was involved in a domestic violence incident with a passenger in his vehicle while he was driving on State Highway 28 in the towns of Delhi and Bovina, the release said. While driving, he was involved in two separate car accidents, one of which led to the passenger sustaining injuries.
Garcia was charged with first-degree unlawful imprisonment, second-degree menacing, fourth-degree criminal mischief and leaving the scene of a personal injury accident. He was arraigned in the Town of Delhi Court and sent to the Delaware County Correctional Facility in lieu of $1,000 cash bail, pending a future court appearance.
