A Marathon man died Saturday night after a two-car motor vehicle accident at an intersection in the town of Coventry.
At 9:24 p.m. Sept. 14, Vincent N. Corbo, 22, of Marathon, was driving west on state Highway 206, and Sean W. Snyder, 19, of Afton was making a left turn from Moran Road onto state Highway 206 when Corbo's vehicle struck Snyder's, according to Chenango County Sheriff's Office Lt. Joshua Gould.
Corbo was transported to Wilson Hospital in Binghamton and was pronounced dead at the hospital. Snyder sustained a minor head injury and was transported to Wilson Hospital for treatment.
Corbo was driving a 1998 Suzuki motorcycle, and Snyder was driving a 2010 Hyundai sedan. Gould said that at this time, speeding isn't known to be a factor. He said the state Highway 206 and Moran Road intersection has been the location of past accidents and that there is limited sight distance in both directions.
The Chenango County Sheriff's Office and members of Coventry, Greene and Brisben fire departments responded to the scene, according to the release. State police and state Department of Transportation also assisted at the scene. The accident is under investigation and further details will follow, according to the release.
