Oneonta's city manager has resigned.
According to a media release from the city, George Korthauer submitted his resignation, effective Feb. 7. He was hired in August 2017 after serving as manager of Petoskey, Michigan, for 25 years.
In the release, Korthauer said, “Considering the expiration of my contract in August, my leaving now will permit the Common Council, with its many new members, to appoint a City Manager of their choosing early-on. It is an honor to have served as city manager in Oneonta and to have worked for and with great people who are talented, conscientious, and dedicated to this community and its municipal government.”
Mayor Gary Herzig aid in the release, “George came to Oneonta with a wealth of knowledge regarding municipal equipment from which our city operations have benefited. I wish George and his wife Brenda much future success.”
Herzig said he will work with Common Council members during the transition.
