Oneonta city, Otsego County and state authorities are investigating fires that occurred during a recent 12-hour period.
City firefighters with support from local volunteer departments responded to five fires between 4 p.m. Friday and 4 a.m. Saturday, a media release from the city of Oneonta said, and the causes of at least several of the fires are under investigation.
Officials said fires were at 17 Eighth St. on Friday afternoon; a 50 Dietz Street business at 1:22 a.m. Saturday; an unoccupied home at 1 Fair St. at 3:24 a.m. Saturday; and at 1 Franklin St. and 11 Harmon Ave.
The mayor and Common Council have authorized a reward of $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of anyone responsible, the release said.
