Seven people were transported to Bassett Medical Center after a two-vehicle accident on state Route 80 on Friday afternoon, according to Otsego County Emergency Services Coordinator Arthur Klingler.
There were no life-threatening injuries, Klingler said. Six people in a Pathfinder Village van and the driver of the other vehicle were transported to Bassett, he said.
All injuries appeared to be relatively minor, but some patients were still being assessed, Bassett Healthcare Network Emergency Preparedness Director Brinton Muller said in a 4:30 p.m. email statement.
At the time, there were already 13 patients unrelated to the accident in Bassett Medical Center's emergency department, according to the statement. To ensure the hospital was prepared with resources to respond to the number of patients being transported the emergency department, a mass casualty code was called, the statement read.
