Oneonta police are looking for a pickup truck allegedly involved in a hit-and-run accident with a pedestrian early Saturday morning.

A man, who was not identified by police, was walking across Main Street near the Oneonta Public Safety building at about 2:30 a.m. when he was struck by a late 1990s model Mazda pickup truck, according to police.

The man was thrown for a short distance but not seriously injured, police said. The truck was dark-colored, and had a cap and a loud exhaust, witnesses told police.

It also had a gold New York state license plate and possibly stickers along the rear cap window, police said. It may also have damage to the passenger side front-end.

The truck was headed on Main Street from the direction of Southside toward downtown. The man who was struck may have attempted to cross the street but then stopped and turned around when he was struck, according to police. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Oneonta Police Department at 432-1111.
