Two people were arrested on felony drug charges in Norwich on Monday morning following a no-knock search of a Main Street apartment, during which a suspect allegedly tried to escape by jumping through a closed window.

Police discovered approximately 1.8 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine, 3 ounces of cocaine, 4.5 ounces of marijuana, LSD, MDMA, and Suboxone strips, along with approximately $35,625 in cash, a loaded handgun and a 2004 Honda Civic at the 93 Main St. apartment.

Corey A. Weidman, 34, jumped out the first-floor window in an effort to escape and was treated at Chenango Memorial Hospital for minor lacerations, according to Chenango County Sheriff Ernest Cutting Jr.

Weidman and Cheyanne D. Moore, 22, have both been charged with first-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class A felony; third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance; second-degree criminal use of drug paraphernalia; and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

They were arraigned in Chenango County Court by Judge Frank B. Revoir Jr. and sent to the Chenango County Correctional Facility. Weidman’s bail has been set at $100,000 cash and Moore’s has been set at $50,000.

The sheriff's office was assisted by New York State Police and the Norwich City Police Department. Cutting said the warrant stemmed from a two-month investigation of the distribution of crystal methamphetamine and cocaine in the county and surrounding areas.

Police also contacted federal authorities, as Moore was on probation following a previous drug charge. She was released in October 2018, according to the Federal Bureau of Prisons inmate lookup. Moore was arrested in June of 2017 for possession of cocaine in her car with intent to sell in New Berlin.

“We'll certainly taking a look at the bigger picture, and this will be an ongoing investigation,” Cutting said, adding that additional arrests and charges are possible.
