State police on Friday confirmed the identity of a man who was shot and killed early Thursday morning in Cobleskill.
Timothy J. Oldorff, 50, was named as the victim. Oldorff was found at his 435 Lamont District Road home with a gunshot wound to the head and later died.
Troopers announced Thursday they had arrested a 17-year-old suspect in connection in the shooting. The name of the suspect has not been released. Police have said nothing about a motive for the shooting or any relationship between the two.
Oldorff was airlifted to Albany Medical Center and was listed in critical condition before succumbing to his injuries several hours later, according to police.
Troopers did not disclose the weapon that was used or whether it was recovered.
The alleged assailant was initially charged with first-degree assault, first-degree criminal use of a firearm and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
Further charges are expected, according to an official from the Albany headquarters of the state police public information office.
The suspect was sent to the Schoharie County Jail, according to a media release.
The Troop G Bureau of Criminal Investigation major crimes and forensic identification units are investigating the incident.
