A 17-year-old Franklin girl was struck by a car Tuesday night and thrown into a 16-year-old girl, leaving both injured, according to the Delaware County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies said Joan McDonald, 46, of Walton, was driving a 2011 Ford Escape southwest on Main Street in the Franklin when Severia Arend, 17, ran from her driveway on the east side of Main Street without looking for traffic.
Arend was struck by the Escape and thrown through the air into Ashley Hogan, 16, according to deputies.
Hogan was in a driveway on the west side of Main Street and waiting for Arend to cross, deputies said.
Arend was not in a marked pedestrian crosswalk, they said.
Both girls were taken to A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital in Oneonta and treated for non-life threatening injuries, according to deputies.
