A woman was arrested for allegedly exploiting an elderly man with Alzheimer’s disease.
New York State Police at Norwich arrested Chenango resident Marianne F. Stanislawski, 51, on charges of making cash withdrawal's from a 75-year-old man's account without his consent.
According to a media release, the victim's power of attorney alerted him to suspicious withdrawals from his debit card over the course of several months. An investigation revealed that Stanislawski was acquainted with the victim and visited him weekly at his residence and helped run errands. Troopers allegedly discovered that she had been making cash withdrawals that were not approved by the victim.
Stanislawski was arrested on Oct. 27 and charged with third-degree grand larceny, a felony. She was arraigned in the town of Oxford Court and released on her own recognizance to appear in court at an undisclosed date. The judge issued a restraining order to protect the victim, according to police.
