Two-vehicle crash in Guilford leaves one dead, two hurt

State police are investigating a two-vehicle collision in the town of Guilford that left one dead and two injured Tuesday.

According to a media release, a 52-year-old Bainbridge resident in a 2003 Honda Civic was traveling west on county Route 37 when he made a U-turn at the intersection with county Route 36, directly in the path of a 2015 Ford F350, which was pulling a loaded cattle trailer.

The truck driver, a 68-year-old female from McDonough, attempted to avoid the collision but struck the driver-side door of the Honda before both vehicles ran off the road.

The driver of the Honda was transported by helicopter to Wilson Memorial Hospital in Johnson City, where he died of his injuries. The passenger, a 71-year-old female, was transported to Wilson by Guilford Emergency Medical Services, according to the release.

Police did not release names of any of the people involved.

The truck driver declined medical treatment. One of the 12 cows onboard was killed during the crash. 

No tickets were issued, and the accident remains under investigation.
