A Walton man was seriously hurt Tuesday afternoon in a motorcycle accident on state Highway 10 in the town of Walton, Delaware County deputies said in a media release.
Kenneth G. Kokoszka, 61, had leg and possible internal injuries and was airlifted by LifeNet helicopter to the UHS Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City, according to deputies, who said early Tuesday night that it wasn't clear if injuries were life-threatening.
Kokoszka was listed in stable condition, a hospital spokeswoman said later Tuesday night.
At about 1:40 p.m. Tuesday near Bob's Brook Road, Kokoszka was riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle south on Highway 10 when he lost control of the motorcycle, which left the roadway before overturning in the ditch along the southbound lane of travel, the release said. Deputies said the road has a curve in that area.
The accident investigation continues but alcohol wasn't considered a factor, deputies said Tuesday night.
The Delaware County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by members of the Walton Volunteer Fire Department and Emergency Squad, Walton Village Police Department and New York City Department of Environmental Protection Police.
