No injuries were reported after a well-drilling truck overturned Tuesday afternoon on state Route 28 in the town of Meredith, according to the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office.
The driver, 47-year-old Michael R. Lutz of Red Hook, was driving north around 4:45 p.m. when the truck exited the road on the right shoulder, according to a media release.
The truck skidded sideways upon reentering the road and overturned on its right side, skidding about 100 feet and blocking both lanes of traffic, according to the release.
Traffic was diverted for more than three hours as officials from the New York State Department of Transportation and fire departments from Delhi and Meridale responded to the scene around 5:45 p.m., according to Tim Murray, chief of the Delhi Fire Department.
Lutz was issued traffic tickets for making an unsafe lane change and failure to display a license plate, according to the release.
