The city of Oneonta suspended restrictions in city parking lots and the municipal parking garage beginning at 4 p.m. Tuesday in anticipation of a major winter storm expected to hit the region overnight Tuesday and all day Wednesday.

The suspension of restriction is designed to allow city residents to safely park their vehicles in anticipation of the upcoming snow emergency, during which parking will not be permitted on city streets, according to a media release.

The National Weather Service have placed Otsego, Delaware and Chenango counties under a winter-storm warning from 10 p.m. Tuesday night to 10 p.m. Wednesday night.

2 to 4 inches of snow are possible by daybreak, with snow continuing throughout the day Wednesday, the NWS said. 6 to 10 inches are possible by the end of the storm.
