The Worcester Central School District Board of Education is expected to vote on a resolution to participate in a study to determine the feasibility of merging with Schenevus Central School District at its meeting next month, according to Superintendent Tim Gonzalez.

The meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 26 in the school library.

The Schenevus school board approved an identical resolution at its July meeting.

Consultants from the Syracuse-based firm Castallo & Silky presented to both school boards Wednesday on the merger study process should it be approved.

The study is tentatively expected to take place from April to November, followed by referendums on the matter in both communities if each school board approves the merger.

If approved, the merger could take effect July 1, 2021.
