Bias not present in local Salvation Army
I am writing in response to Nico Meyering’s letter to The Daily Star on Nov. 27, regarding the Salvation Army.
I have worked in human services in this area for 20 years. I cannot comment on what goes on in other areas, but our Salvation Army provides a great service for many people.
The staff I have worked with are kind, generous folks. I have never known anyone to be discriminated against or treated with disrespect.
I have seen many families in need receive help, including Christmas gifts and dinner, food for hungry people, summer camp for children and cooperation with other agencies to help them provide services.
I encourage you to support our local Salvation Army at Christmas time, and throughout the year.
