The 2015 State of the Union Address by President Barack Obama marked a special occasion. Barring a national catastrophe, only two more years of this nightmare, known as the Obama administration, remain.
Over the past six years, President Obama has been called many things. Accusations of being a Muslim, of having been born in Kenya, of being a traitor, a leftist, a Manchurian Candidate, an anti-colonist, or a Socialist or Communist abound. Some may be true.
Talk is cheap, and President Obama can talk for 20 minutes about tying his shoes or sidestepping a difficult question, but as with all politicians, it is what he believes, not what he says, that is important.
Consider the laundry list of the State of the Union Address. To those of us who haven’t been paying attention for the last six years, it gives us yet another glimpse into his beliefs and his vision for America.
He would have us, the taxpayer, provide free community college tuition. That sounds warm and fuzzy, but let’s be sure our high school graduates know that Bill Clinton is not one of the Founding Fathers, before we continue this “free” non-education any further.
It is estimated that 40 percent of all college students attend community colleges. How many more will attend, if it becomes “free?” How many billions of dollars a year will be added to the federal budget, as an ever-growing government provides yet another entitlement for its people?
Why should we do this? Can’t people provide for themselves, or is an America dependent on government entitlements his real goal?
President Obama brags about Obamacare and how 10 million more are now insured. In reality, two million have been added to private policies, three million to their parents’ insurance, and four million to Medicaid. In the words of a friend, “Hardly a stellar accomplishment for two years and at the cost of trillions.”
Yet, to President Obama, the cost doesn’t matter. Obamacare is a masterful plan to put more power and control into government hands and greatly expand the entitlement society.
Let’s not forget minimum wage, but why all the concern? Here is an administration that spies on our private emails, and allowed the IRS to target groups with views contrary to their liking. it cares only about itself.
Actually, very few heads of families work for minimum wage. Nearly all minimum wage workers are young, single, and in college or still living at home.
So, why all the concern? Does anyone stop to consider the value of the job being done, or is it because minimum wage is used as the base for the hourly rate for most of the big unions. When it goes up, their pay goes up, and who do the unions support, both in votes and donations?
Even more though, it is about another handout or mandate that makes more people appreciative of government, and more dependent on Washington for their prosperity. We are being conditioned to rely on government for our well-being and advancement, rather than improve our own lot through ambition and hard work.
According to the president, all the above level the playing field by taking money from the richest Americans. (If I hear, “paying their fair share” one more time, I’ll vomit.) It is not about giving everyone an equal start; it is about trying to guarantee an equal finish. That is not the way government works in a capitalist or free society, but therein lays the insight into what President Obama believes.
According to Dan Joseph of CNSNews, “If there’s one thing ardent supporters of President Obama absolutely detest, it’s when his pollitical opponents refer to him as a ‘Socialist.’ Liberals know that the term ‘Socialist’ is politically harmful to their candidates and agenda. ...”
Socialism is defined as “Any of various economic and political theories advocating collective or government ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods. A stage of society in Marxist theory transitional between capitalism and communism.”
While he has not yet advocated government ownership of business, his administration has raised the bar when it comes to government control and regulations. Like the old farmer said, “Why own the cow, if you get her milk for nothing?”
President Obama wants to provide health care to everyone, he tries to equalize other benefits and opportunities, and he wants everyone to have an equal share of the pie. This is all under the guise of “It is free,” but it’s paid for by our tax dollars, which under President Obama have grown to socialist levels.
Is President Obama a socialist? Supreme Court Justice Potter Stewart reportedly said, “I don’t know the definition of pornography, but I know it when I see it.”
