Tired of the gov't telling us what's best

Obamacare passed without it being read and understood by Congress. It requires Catholic employers to offer free health insurance coverage for sterilization, abortion-inducing drugs and contraceptives.

As a result, the Obama administration has cast aside the First Amendment to the Constitution, denying Catholics our nation's first and most fundamental freedom, that of religious liberty.

Catholics in this country make up about 22 percent and must not be treated as second-class citizens because of their religious beliefs and values.

I encourage those who believe in the principles of free speech and religious liberty guaranteed by the First Amendment of our Constitution to contact Senators Schumer and Gillibrand along with their congressmen, asking them to reverse this vile policy.

This is not an issue for Catholics alone; it's an issue of centralized big government taking away our First Amendments rights and liberties. I'm tired of our government telling me it knows what's best for me.

The founding fathers came to this country for freedom, religious liberty and created a democracy for all so we could decide what we choose to believe and how we wanted to live.

Get answers before deciding

It's unbelievable! If you hold an office in this area or want to, you better be against fracking.

First it happened in the county; some people thought some reps shouldn't vote because they had leases on their land.

Now West Oneonta's rep is asked to recuse himself from any discussion or vote!

You've got to be kidding. This isn't a dictatorship here ... yet. In the town of Laurens, the same thing is happening.

An honest person running for office was unjustly accused of things that weren't true and the anti-fracking people didn't even know this person.

I think people who have to lie and tell half-truths about others have something to hide about their agenda.

As with Laurens, its pamphlet was full of lies and half-truths and anybody who disagreed with it was ridiculed publicly.

Shame on the people for not standing up to the town. Do not believe anything you hear; look for yourself and get all the answers before you stand behind someone or thing.

There is always two sides, but don't be influenced by anyone.

Just because some are more vocal doesn't mean they're right.
