There is no reason to have a Columbus Day in the United States. Columbus never got to the North American continent. His Nina, Pinta and Santa Maria only made it to the South American area, most probably around the Bahamas before he made it to solid ground, where he found a little gold and took indigenous natives, “Indians,” back to the royalty in Spain, where he sold them as slaves. The holiday should be called something like Northern American Indian Day or One Month Until Election Day, not Columbus Day.
