I appreciated the article in The Daily Star that which questioned the official excuses for the recent drone assassination of Iranian general Qassem Soleimani. This was an assassination, and a violation of U.S. and international law. Yet mainstream media outlets refuse to identify it as such, for fear of offending the military-industrial complex and its puppet politicians, which have included Reagan, Bush 1 and 2, Clinton, Obama and Trump.

Americans need to wake up to the fact that our country is a military empire, which wages illegal wars all over the world, for the primary purpose of enriching American corporations that profit from the deaths of innocent civilians, as they supply the bombs and armaments that make this bloody slaughter possible, and then accept government contracts to rebuild what has been destroyed.

Can you imagine what would happen if Iran assassinated a U.S. general with a drone? It would be considered an inhuman outrage that required an overpowering military response against the perpetrators. Yet the U.S. government sees no wrongdoing in assassinating an Iranian general. The idiots that run this country are likely to lead us right into World War III, which will probably cause the destruction of the human race in a nuclear holocaust.

We need to vote for peace in the coming election. Not many voices support this. But presidential candidate Tulsi Gabbard says we need to stop slaughtering people abroad and focus instead on using our resources to rebuild our own infrastructure and create peaceful jobs for American citizens.

The leaders of the Republican and Democratic parties will not support a reduction in our military adventures, since they are sponsored by the very corporations that profit from these meaningless and destructive wars. Our lives, and the lives of all humanity, are on the line. Consider the consequences before you vote.
