Frostbite 5K set for Wednesday
The 16th annual Frostbite 5K will start at 1 p.m. Wednesday near the Foothills Performing Arts Center on Market Street in Oneonta.
Race-day registration and number pick up will run from 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the Oneonta Family YMCA.
The first 150 registered runners will receive a long-sleeved performance race shirt. Short-sleeved T-shirts will be available for others while supplies last.
Cost is $25 for adults and $13 for children ages 10-and-under.

Volleyball leagues start soon
The Oneonta Family YMCA will run the City of Oneonta’s Adult Volleyball League beginning in January. Teams will continue to play at the Asa C. Allison Municipal Building in Oneonta.
The men’s league begins Jan. 6. The women’s league starts Jan. 8.

Lacrosse session runs Mondays
The winter session of LacrosseOneonta at the Oneonta Boys and Girls Club will run Mondays through Jan. 12.
Youths in grades 3-6 will play from 6-7 p.m., followed by grades 7-9 from 7-8 p.m. and grades 10-12 from 8-9 p.m.
Participation is free, but youths must be members of the OBGC and are required to sign in each night.
A limited amount of equipment is available, if needed.

OBGC to hold youth wrestling
The Oneonta Boys and Girls Club will run Oneonta Youth Wrestling practices from 6-7 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays during the winter. The program is free and open to boys ages 6-12 in the Oneonta City School District who are OBGC members. No wrestling experience is required.

O-State women to hold events
The Oneonta State women’s basketball team will hold three special events this season, starting with its Junior/Senior High Recognition Day on Jan. 10.
The Red Dragons will host Brockport at 4 p.m. Jan. 10. Fans will have the opportunity to meet the team during halftime of the men’s basketball game (approximately 1:30 p.m.).
O-State also will host a game Jan. 31, when alumni of the SUNY Oneonta Girls Basketball Camp Alumni can meet the team during the men’s game and watch the women’s game at 4 p.m.
On Feb. 7, O-State will hold its Women’s Health Awareness Day and Kay Yow Pink Zone event. The Red Dragons will team with area organizations to support the fight against breast cancer. The day will start at 2 p.m., with a game to follow at 4 p.m.

Hall accepting intern applications
The National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown will accept applications for its 2015 Frank and Peggy Steele Internship Program for Youth Leadership Development until Jan. 31.
The program is a 10-week paid summer internship offering hands-on training in numerous professional career fields for those who are chosen from the hundreds of applications received in Cooperstown each year.
To be considered for the program, students must be enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program at a college or university, having completed at least their sophomore year of studies. Intern positions for 2015 are available in the following fields:
Collections, Communications, Curatorial, Development, Digital Strategy, Education-Public Programs, Library Research, Licensing & Sales, Multimedia, Photo Archives, Photography and Special Events.
Nineteen internships will be awarded.
All applications must be completed online at www.baseballhall.org/intern. To complete an application, candidates must attach a cover letter and resume to their online applications. Only completed applications will be reviewed for acceptance into the program.
Applications must be received no later than Jan. 31.
O-State to hold softball clinic
The Oneonta State softball team will host a winter skills clinic for girls ages 10-and-older from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Feb. 22 at Alumni Field House.
Campers will be instructed by coaches and players from the 2014 SUNY Athletic Conference championship Red Dragons. The clinic will focus on developmental instruction in the morning. Live game play will follow in the afternoon.
Cost is $50 per camper. Pre-registration is highly recommended.

Swimming lessons begin in March
SUNY Delhi will start spring swimming lessons in March.
Option I covers six 30-minute lessons from 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Saturdays from March 21-May 9 and costs $35.
Option II covers 12 30-minute lessons and runs from 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Saturdays, as well as from 4-5 p.m. Wednesdays, from March 18-May 9. Cost is $50.
Lessons will not be held April 1, 4, 8 and 11.
Registration runs from 9 a.m.-noon March 14 at the Kunsela Hall pool.

Lifeguard training starts March 18
SUNY Delhi will hold Red Cross Waterfront Lifeguard Training from 6-9 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays from March 18-May 6.
Sessions run March 18, 23, 25; April 13, 15, 20, 22, 27, 29; and May 4, 6. Attendance at all sessions is mandatory. Class size will be a minimum of six participants.
Training includes AED, First Aid and CPR-FPR. Participants must be at least age 15, must complete swimming tests as a prerequisite, must demonstrate competency in all all required skills, and must correctly answer at least 80 percent on all the written tests.
Cost is $270 and may be paid at the SUNY Delhi pool. A non-refundable deposit of $45 is required at registration. The remainder of the fee is due by the second day of classes.

Registration open for winter golf
Colonial Ridge Golf in Laurens is accepting teams for its winter simulator golf league.
Two-person teams will play nine holes of captain-and-mate per week on assigned golf courses, with a different course every week.
A one-time fee of $20 per person will go toward prize money, with a 100-percent payout. Weekly fees cost $10 per person.
The league runs through the end of March. Teams may make up matches and play in advance. Simulators open at 9 a.m. Monday-Friday and at 8 a.m. Saturday-Sunday. Reservations are required.

Club accepting deer hides
The Bainbridge Sportsmen’s Club and Chenango Federation are accepting donations of deer hides.
Money from the hides will be used to send youths to Department of Environmental Conservation camps.
Deer hides should be dropped off at the Bainbridge Sportsmen’s Club or 23 Pearl St. in Bainbridge.
