Megan Palmatier went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the visiting Bainbridge-Guilford softball team to a 3-1 win against Afton on Tuesday.

Palmatier hit an RBI single in the fifth inning for B-G, which scored two runs in the inning to erase the 1-0 advantage by Afton.

Winning pitcher Kara Thornton struck out eight for the Bobcats, who scored one run in the top of the seventh inning. At the plate, Thornton hit a double in the win.

Amanda Greenwood took the loss for Afton, which hosts Hancock at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Greenwood hit a triple in the loss.

Hancock 8, Sidney 6

Laycee Drake had three hits and three runs to lead Hancock past visiting Sidney on Tuesday.

The Wildcats scored four runs in the first inning, one run in the second and three runs in the sixth.

Adrianne Pasternoster went 2-for-2 at the plate and had two RBIs for Sidney, which scored six runs between the third, fifth and seventh innings.

Mackenzie Constable had two hits, including a double, for Sidney (1-3), which hosts Oxford at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Olivia DeMott had 10 strikeouts and took the loss for the Warriors.

Haleigh Nugent had four strikeouts and earned the win for Hancock.

Oneonta 11, JC 10

Thanks to a miss-played ball by Johnson City on Tuesday, visiting Oneonta High School beat the Wildcats for a league win in extra innings.

The Yellowjackets’ Taylor Microni hit a long drive to center field in the top of the eighth inning, which the Wildcats miss-played, allowing OHS to score five runs in the extra inning.

Michelle Rossi, who earned the win, had four hits, three runs and an RBI for OHS, which also got two hits from both Robin Wolf-Gould and Microni.

Oneonta (4-2), hosts Windsor at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Pitcher Mackenzie Carlin had 12 strikeouts for Johnson City, which scored four runs in the bottom of the eighth inning.

S-E 12, Unatego 7

Alyssa Cerar hit a two-run triple in the fourth inning, and Jaci Zaveral hit a solo home run in the fifth inning, but Unatego fell at home to Sherburne-Earlville on Wednesday.

Unatego (2-2), which scored five runs in the fourth, and one run in both the second and fifth innings, visits Deposit at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Mackenzie Holmes hit a double in the win, and teammate Lizzie Backman hit a triple.

Downsville 20, G-MU 5

On Tuesday, Downsville pitcher Mara LeRoy earned the win, and the Eagles beat visiting Gilberstville-Mount Upton in five innings.

Catcher Lindsey Hefele had a double in the win, as did teammates Shannon Murphy and Alice Gummoe. Downsville (3-1) visits G-MU at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.

Deposit 18, UV 0

In five innings, pitcher Makenzie Stiles threw a perfect game for Deposit on Tuesday, and the Lumberjackers had little trouble against Unadilla Valley.

Stiles had 14 strikeouts in the win. Tia Peck took the lost for Unadilla Valley, striking out five on the mound. Alea Tiffany had a double and two RBIs in the win.

UV (0-2) hosts Greene at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.


CF 6, Oneonta 1

Oneonta High School’s Chris Catan beat Chenango Fork’s Aidan Houlihan in the top-seed singles match on Tuesday, but it was the only win for the visiting Yellowjackets.

Catan won, 6-1, 6-1, for OHS (0-5), which hosts Susquehanna Valley at 1 p.m. on Thurday.

Oxford 3, B-G 2

Bailey Hotaling and Amaya Carlin each had single wins for host Bainbridge-Guilford on Wednesday, but the Bobcats fell to Oxford.

Owen Labrecht fell to Natalie Barrows, 2-6, 7-6 (7-5), 6-3 for B-G, which lost both doubles matches.
